Each January, the Georgia Tech community commemorates the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This commemoration encompasses an ambitious slate of events organized by multiple campus partners such as Civic Engagement, Housing, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Intercultural Student Programs. Celebrations include community events hosted by the King Center and faith-based organizations, student performances, and keynote lectures.

    • MLK Legacy Panel: Creating a Path to Freedom, Justice, and Democracy

      Join us as we engage with members of the community and discuss our path to freedom and justice as the beloved community. Panelists will provide insight into ways to further the vision of Dr. King. Reception to follow.

    • Read for the Dream: MLK Literacy Day of Service

      Join the John Lewis Student Leadership Pathways in celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy through the power of reading and giving! During the "Read for the Dream" day, students will have the opportunity to volunteer by reading in a local classroom at Centennial Academy in partnership with the Horizon afterschool program, sharing inspiring stories and fostering a love for books among young readers. Students can also participate in our MLK Day book drive, collecting books to support literacy in our community and ensure access to diverse and empowering stories. The John Lewis Student Leadership Pathways will be collecting book donations from January 6th - January 23rd in the Center of Student Engagement. We will donate all the books to Centennial Academy during our Read for the Dream Day. Together, let’s honor Dr. King's vision by uplifting others through the gift of literacy.

The event will feature a keynote address by a TikTok and Instagram influencer who will explore Dr. King’s impact and share powerful insights on how younger generations can leverage social media to advance social justice. A reception will follow.
